Due to the current circumstances concerning COVID-19, we are following The Government advice and will be closing sites from 10pm Friday 20th March 2020.

Members with Wave Leisure Trust, will have payments suspended free of charge during this time. These are currently being processed by the Wave Leisure Trust team – you do not need to get in touch with us for your membership to be suspended.

Any bookings due within this period will be cancelled and the team will contact you in due course to discuss rearranging your booking or issuing a refund.

In times like this, we look towards new ways of supporting our members to keep active and healthy. And whilst our physical doors must close for now, we are delighted to launch the   .

We are opening the group for joining requests tonight at this link – if you are a member of Wave Leisure (any location), East Grinstead Sports Club or Sport Eastbourne you can join us in our new community space to share tips and ideas, watch videos from our expert fitness and personal training teams and hopefully make some new friends along the way.

We’d love all members and staff to join us so please request access below – you will be prompted to enter your membership number.

We will be reviewing all joining requests on Monday morning and we have an exciting programme of content to begin sharing with you.

This means that we will still be actively supporting our membership base to stay healthy, but collecting no payments during this time.

Due to the current coronavirus, we are reducing capacity in our Group Exercise classes and in our gyms as of 18/03/2020.

We have taken this decision after much consideration, as it will allow us to continue operating our classes and gym facilities whilst supporting the safety and wellbeing of our members. This is not a decision we have taken lightly, and we will be doing everything we can to support our members to keep getting active, for example with workouts accessible at home.

Reduction of Group Exercise Class Capacity

We will be contacting those booked on to classes in reverse order, to inform these members that unfortunately they will no longer be able to attend their class. If there is a class you know you will no longer be attending, you can really help us by cancelling your place. This will support our front of house team as well as our instructors.
We ask that you:
    • cancel if not planning on attending OR
    • call the centre to ask if you are still on the list 

Please be advised, if we are unable to contact you regarding a change to your class booking and the class has reached capacity, you may not be permitted to join the class upon your arrival.

Reduction of Gym Capacity

We will be restricting and managing the capacities of our gym facilities to ensure we are following PHE guidelines for Covid-19 regarding social distancing. Our teams will be monitoring usage at regular intervals and ensuring our high levels of hygiene and cleaning remain consistent.

Please be advised, if we are at capacity you may not be able to access the gym during your visit.

We are closely monitoring the coronavirus (Covid-19) situation and are continuing to work closely with the Government, Public Health England, UK Active and local authorities to provide up-to-date advice and guidance.

The health and safety of our members and employees is our number one priority, which is why we have taken steps to ensure that we are protecting each other according to current advice.  Our centres are open, and we continue to welcome members to our fitness facilities.

We understand that you might have some questions and concerns about how we are responding to coronavirus, so we put together the following FAQs:

Are your facilities open and operating as normal?

Yes. We have increased the level of cleaning and hygiene in our facilities to ensure they remain safe. We understand that customers are concerned about the coronavirus so please follow the instructions within the facilities, and within these FAQs, on how to keep yourself and others safe.

The advice to the public also applies to our teams, so there may be occasions where they need to stay at home. To limit the inconvenience caused by a short-notice cancellation, we would encourage you to phone ahead of your visit.

Is it safe to visit your facilities?

Yes. We will continue to operate the club and maintain our high standards of hygiene and cleanliness across all our facilities.

During this time, we would like to emphasise the importance of keeping active and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. If you are unable to, or have been advised not to, visit our facilities we will continue to support you with regular workouts that you can try at home. The videos will be shared alongside professional advice about keeping well and healthy. This can be found on our social media channels (www.facebook.com/waveleisure/).

Our members can also benefit from Les Mills On Demand as a way to keep up their fitness levels. Access to this will be emailed directly to you. If you are a member and have not received details about this, please message us on info@waveleisure.co.uk.

What action are you taking to keep members and staff safe and well?

At Wave Leisure, the health and safety of our members and employees is our number one priority. As such we have increased the level of cleaning and sanitisation across all our sites. Ways we have done this include:

  • Increasing the number of hygiene stations in our gym, fitness facilities, bar and all public areas.
  • Reducing the number of participants and minimalizing the use of equipment in all studio classes.
  • Finishing group exercise classes early to allow time to thoroughly clean the equipment.
  • Reminding customers and staff about the importance of hygiene and protecting each other across the club, all Wave Leisure Trust centres and websites.
  • We have advised all our teams on what do when returning from foreign travel, in line with Public Health England guidelines.
  • We have also advised all our teams on what to do if they, or anyone living in their household, start to show any symptoms of coronavirus.

What can customers do to help?

As part of Public Health England’s guidance, we would like to remind members about the importance of good personal hygiene. When visiting our sites please ensure that you:

  • Wash your hands frequently, for 20 seconds, using soap and water.
  • Make full use of the soap, sanitisers and cleaning items available.
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing and dispose of the tissue in the bin after use.

In line with the government and NHS we would like to remind members that if you have a new continuous cough OR high temperature (37.8 degrees or higher) you should stay at home. Please do not come to one of our facilities if you are showing these symptoms.
